Flowers of Summer: A Floral Correspondence Course

June 22 through September 22, 2007 

Learn about the flowers that grow in your part of the world. Develop an understanding of floral origins, history, names and uses through interactive exercises.  

Ever week you will receive a short email describing one of the topics below and suggesting opportunities for you to interact with flowers. For instance, the week of Naming Flowers, you will be encouraged to learn the name of one flower you don’t know, or to come up with a new name for a common flower. The week of Drawing Flowers, you will be asked to do one drawing (or take one photograph). 

As part of the course you will be enrolled in a Yahoo group where you can post your responses to the homework, discuss the topic with other participants in the class and post pictures. Although I will be providing structured learning opportunities, you will be studying the flowers that interest you.

• Week 2: Tracking Flowers
• Week 3: Drawing Flowers
• Week 4: Identifying Flowers
• Week 5: Making Wreaths
• Week 6: Eating Flowers
• Week 6: Drinking Flowers
• Week 7: Healing with Flowers
• Week 8: Arranging Flowers
• Week 9: Flowers in Perfume
• Week 10: Flower Crafts
• Week 11: Flower Essences
• Week 12: Flowers as Offerings  

The cost is $120 for twelve weeks. The course is limited to 12 participants.
