NEW FOR 2008! French Revolutionary Wall Calendar
A wall calendar featuring the seasonal months and daily natural phenomena developed by the creators of the French Revolutionary calendar. Illustrated with seasonal photographs by Christine Valter Paintner.

This calendar features Christine’s photographs illustrating the seasonal theme of the particular month in the French Revolutionary calendar, for instance, January is Snowy/Rainy, and each day is marked with the item meant to be honored on that day. Usually these are plants and trees; every day ending in 5 honors an animal and every day ending in 0, a tool. Click here to download a sample of the January pages (PDF) and here for a sample of the cover (PDF).

Available as a download for $10. Or in a printed, wire-bound version for $16. Please allow 10 days for delivery. Calendars will begin shipping the last week of December.

NEW FOR 2008! Living in Season Natural Planning Journal
For 2008, I’m launching a new email service to help you formulate choose your themes and goals for each season and moon cycle and use those natural rhythms (and the balance they represent—with appropriate periods of rest as well as activity) to accomplish your dreams. The service includes four weeks of preparatory assignments via email in January, to help you identify your themes and goals for the new year. (Those of you who start your new year in a different season, can do this at any time.) For the rest of the year, email messages arrive shortly before each new season and new moon, suggesting possible themes for the season or lunation, and reminding you of your intentions at the start of the year. You have the option of posting your responses to a list-serve, if you would like to share the experience with others.

Sign up for a full year for only $120 ($10 a month). You can also sign up in modules. Each season will be $40. The introductory module, “New Year Wishes,” is also $40.

NATURAL PLANNING JOURNAL, FULL YEAR: $120.00

NATURAL PLANNING JOURNAL, INTRODUCTORY MODULE "NEW YEAR WISHES": $40.00

NATURAL PLANNING JOURNAL, SPRING MODULE: $40.00

NATURAL PLANNING JOURNAL, SUMMER MODULE: $40.00

NATURAL PLANNING JOURNAL, FALL MODULE: $40.00

Calendar Companion: Closing the Door on the Old Year

An old New Year's carol sings about the fair maid with gold upon her chin who opens up the eastern door to let the new year in. But in the same carol, there's also a fair maid with gold upon her toe who opens up the western door to let the old year go.

In this first year of the new year, before we resume our work lives after the merriment of the Twelve Days of Christmas (which ends on January 6), what can you do that will symbolically close the door on the past year?

You might do something as simple as donating your old computer to charity or dropping off that bag of cast-off clothes at the nearest Goodwill. You could do something symbolic like write a letter to the old year in your journal, perhaps after lighting a candle. Or you might choose something more ambitious like putting away the photographs you took during the year into a photo album or making a list of the art works or stories you created during the year.

Whatever you choose, set aside sufficient time so you can do it with grace and leisure. Write it into your schedule now.

BOOK: Introduction to School of the Seasons
The introduction to Waverly’s correspondence course turned into a lovely book with illustrations by Davies MacKinnon. Waverly describes different ways of approaching and working with the rhythms of the moon, artificial time patterns (like weeks, hours and years) and the cycle of the seasons. You'll find instructions for developing your own school of the seasons, a way of aligning your spiritual practices and studies, with the energies of the seasons.

PLEASE NOTE: This book is no longer in print; for a more current version, order Slow Time.

BOOK: Celebrating the Seasonal Holy Days
An entertaining and informative introduction to the background and folklore of Lammas, Harvest (Autumn Equinox), Halloween (Samhain), Yule (Midwinter or Winter Solstice), Candlemas (Imbolc), Easter (Spring Equinox), May Day (Beltane) and Midsummer (Summer Solstice). Waverly suggests creative ways to celebrate these eight seasonal holidays, either alone or with others. A nice gift for family and friends, this book is also a great quick reference when you're planning a ritual.
